{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-30a.260","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 30A.260","heading":"Payment to clerk by debit or credit card account -- Imposition of fee if","body":"check or sight order dishonored.\n(1) A clerk may, but shall not be required to, accept payment of any fine, forfeiture, tax,\nor fee by debit or credit card account. If an individ ual chooses to pay a fine,\nforfeiture, tax, or fee by debit or credit card account, the clerk may recover the\ntransaction fee charged by the issuer or acquirer of the account as part of and in\naddition to the original amount of the fine, forfeiture, tax, or fee.\n(2) Where a check or similar sight order for the payment of money is tendered to a clerk\nfor payment of any fine, forfeiture, tax, or fee and that check or sight order is\nsubsequently dishonored, the clerk may charge to the person who tendered the\ncheck or sight order a fee, not exceeding twenty-five dollars ($25), in an amount set\nby the Supreme Court by rule.\n(3) Fees collected under subsection (2) of this section shall be deposited into the\ngeneral fund.","path":["KRS Chapter 30A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=21201","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:48:50Z","sha256":"8c168197630af7c48bda0c449bb0b2a7f1eeec4acfb49f1a090a99a88414222b","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-30a.250","next":"us-ky/krs-30a.300"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
