{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-311.1931","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 311.1931","heading":"Search and notification.","body":"(1) The following persons shall make a reasonable search of an individual who the\nperson reasonably believes is dead or near death for a document of gift or other\ninformation identifying the individual as a donor or as an individual who made a\nrefusal:\n(a) A law enforcement officer, firefighter, paramedic, or other emergency rescuer\nfinding the individual; and\n(b) If no other source of the information is immediately available, a hospital, as\nsoon as practical after the individual's arrival at the hospital.\n(2) If a document of gift or a refusal to make an anatomical gift is located by the search\nrequired by subsection (1)(a) of this section, and the individual or deceased\nindividual to whom it relates is taken to a hospital, the person responsible for\nconducting the search shall send the document of gift or refusal to the hospital.\n(3) A person is not subject to criminal or civil liability for failing to discharge the duties\nimposed by this section but may be subject to administrative sanctions.","path":["KRS Chapter 311"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=30437","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:03Z","sha256":"6246e1f3820f1f0f15d96f04d90b2c0aa79f57d0d338dd712ca2c28e8c85ba3a","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-311.1929","next":"us-ky/krs-311.1933"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
