{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-311.1947","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 311.1947","heading":"Statewide electronic registry for organ and tissue donations --","body":"Collaboration among agencies -- Strategies for operation.\n(1) Contingent upon the availability of funding, the Cabinet for Health and Family\nServices shall facilitate the establ ishment of a statewide electronic registry for\norgan and tissue donation for transplantation, therapy, education, and research for\nthe advancement of donation and transplantation science. The cabinet may contract\nwith a public or private nonprofit entity t o perform gatekeeper functions of the\nregistry that include but are not limited to the operation, maintenance, privacy, and\nsecurity of the registry.\n(2) An ongoing collaboration shall be established among the Transportation Cabinet,\nthe Cabinet for Health  and Family Services, the Kentucky Circuit Court Clerks\nTrust for Life, the Kentucky Hospital Association, the Kentucky Medical\nAssociation, and the federally certified organ and tissue procurement organizations\nthat operate in Kentucky to develop strategi es for the operation of the registry.\nStrategies shall include but not be limited to:\n(a) Donor designation at the time of application or renewal of a driver's license;\n(b) Donor designation at the time of application or renewal of a state\nidentification card;\n(c) Donor designation on the Commonwealth's single sign-on system;\n(d) Other online registration as a donor;\n(e) Removal or exit from the registry;\n(f) Timely access to the registry by relevant parties in accordance with federal\nlaws and regulations r elating to organ and tissue donation and procurement\nfor transplantation purposes; and\n(g) Evaluation of the effectiveness of the registry.\n(3) The cabinet may promulgate administrative regulations pursuant to KRS Chapter\n13A to implement the provisions of this section.","path":["KRS Chapter 311"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=53759","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:03Z","sha256":"9714444c878aa15f42af8e2eaa7c26d2507f439d02cd5e921058beeb47a2dfa2","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-311.1945","next":"us-ky/krs-311.1949"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
