{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-311.1951","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 311.1951","heading":"Cooperation among medical examiner, coroner, and tissue procurement","body":"organizations.\n(1) A medical examiner, coroner, and organ and tissue procurement organizations shall\ncooperate with each other to maximize the opportunity to recover anatomical gifts\nfor the purpose of transplantation and therapy.\n(2) If a medical examiner or coroner receives notice from a procurement organization\nthat an anatomical gift might be available or was made with respect to a decedent\nwhose body is under the jurisdiction of the medical examiner or coroner and a\npostmortem examination is going to be performed, unless the medical examiner or\ncoroner denies recovery in accordance with KRS 311.1953, the medical examiner or\ncoroner or designee shall conduct, when practicable, a po stmortem examination of\nthe body or the part in a manner and within a period compatible with its\npreservation for the purposes of the gift.\n(3) A part may not be removed from the body of a decedent under the jurisdiction of a\nmedical examiner or coroner fo r transplantation and therapy unless the part is the\nsubject of an anatomical gift of organs or tissues for transplantation.","path":["KRS Chapter 311"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=30448","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:03Z","sha256":"72be15f8bc8799532f9e678cce963e464ef9809ed384c806d6588dbf4d117586","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-311.195","next":"us-ky/krs-311.1953"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
