{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-311.375","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 311.375","heading":"Conditions governing use of title \"Doctor\" or \"Dr.\" -- Penalty.","body":"(1) No person shall, in connection with the practice of medicine, surgery, osteopathy,\noptometry, dentistry, podiatry, pharmacy, chiropractic, psychology or psychiatry,\nnursing, anesthesiology, physio or physical therapy, or any other profession or\nbusiness having for its purpose the diagnosis, treatment, correction or cure of any\nhuman ailment, condition, disease, injury or infirmity, hold himself or herself out as\na doctor or employ or use in any manner the title \"Doctor\" or \"Dr.,\" unless he or she\nactually has graduated and holds a doctor degree from a school, college, university\nor institution authorized by its governing body to confer such degree.\n(2) No person who holds a doctor degree, as provided in subsection (1) of this section,\nshall use or employ the title \"Doctor\" or \"Dr.\" in or upon any letter, statement, card,\nprescription, sign, listing or other writing held out to the public without affixing\nsuitable words or letters designating the particular doctor degree held by such\nperson.\n(3) The written ma terial or designation in connection with advertising, billboards,\nsigns, or professional notices shall be in letters, type, or illumination, or give display\nand legibility, of at least three-fourths (3/4) that of the title \"Doctor\" or \"Dr.\"\n(4) Any person who violates this section and is found by a trier of fact to have\ncommitted the violation with the intent to deceive the public shall have his or her\nhealth provider license revoked for not less than six (6) months or more than one (1)\nyear.","path":["KRS Chapter 311"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=30491","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:04Z","sha256":"25f039e368528baa0776a3a685d71a3b93b6c17a784640d25474040ae9a2bc01","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-311.373","next":"us-ky/krs-311.376"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
