{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-311.420","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 311.420","heading":"Examinations -- Qualifications -- National board examinations -- Fees --","body":"Issuance of licenses -- Expenses of board members -- Administrative\nregulations.\n(1) The board shall conduct examinations at least twice a year at such times and places\nas the board deems convenient for applicants for licenses to practice podiatry in this\nstate, and shall admit to examination any applicant who:\n(a) Is at least eighteen (18) years of age;\n(b) Is a citizen or legal resident of the United States and a resident of Kentucky;\n(c) Is of good moral character and temperate habits; and\n(d) Has completed a course in and graduated from a school or college of podiatry\napproved by the board.\n(2) The board shall prescribe the time, place, method, manner, scope, and conte nt of\nboard examinations for licenses to practice podiatry.\n(3) Applicants for board examination shall present their credentials to the board by mail\nupon forms furnished by the board and shall receive due notice of the place and\ndate of the board examinat ion. Each application shall contain proof of the\nqualifications required of the applicant, be verified by the applicant under oath, and\nbe accompanied by an examination fee set by the board.\n(4) The board shall issue a license to practice podiatry to any person who:\n(a) 1. Satisfactorily passes the board examination; or\n2. Provides certified evidence to the board directly from the National\nBoard of Podiatric Medical Examiners that he or she has passed all parts\nof the American Podiatric Medical Licensing Examination within the\npast ten (10) years;\n(b) For any applicant seeki ng initial licensure after January 1, 2027, provides\nevidence to the board directly from the sponsoring institution that he or she\nhas satisfactorily completed at least two (2) years of podiatric residency; and\n(c) Fulfills all other licensure requirements under KRS 311.380 to 311.500 and in\nadministrative regulations promulgated by the board in accordance with KRS\nChapter 13A.\n(5) The members of the board shall receive no compensation for their services, but\nshall be paid their traveling and other necessar y expenses while employed upon the\nbusiness of the board.\n(6) The board may utilize such materials, services, or facilities as may be made\navailable to it by other state agencies or may contract therefor, to such extent as the\nboard in its discretion, may determine.\n(7) The board may promulgate administrative regulations in accordance with KRS\nChapter 13A relating to:\n(a) The licensing and regulation of podiatric assistants;\n(b) The licensing and regulation of podiatric residents and podiatric residency\nlicenses; and\n(c) The approval and regulation of supervising podiatrists who provide podiatric\nsupervision of physician assistants in accordance with KRS 311.857.","path":["KRS Chapter 311"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=57538","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:04Z","sha256":"9a77c1a5107919da2e0b75e332c8b14d997b2e9e6fd869e92b943737c821d693","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-311.415","next":"us-ky/krs-311.430"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
