{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-311.530","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 311.530","heading":"State Board of Medical Licensure -- Membership.","body":"(1) There is hereby created in state government an independent board to be known as\nthe State Board of Medical Licensure which shall exercise all medical and\nosteopathic licensure functions heretofore exercised by the State Board of Health.\nThe offices of the board shall be maintained at such place as is designated by the\nboard.\n(2) The board shall consist of sixteen (16) members, including:\n(a) The commissioner of public health or designee from the Department for\nPublic Health who is a licensed physician pursuant to KRS Chapter 311;\n(b) The dean of the University of Kentucky College of Medicine or designee from\nthe University of Kentucky College of Medicine who is a licensed physician\npursuant to KRS Chapter 311;\n(c) The vice dean for clinical affairs of the Un iversity of Louisville School of\nMedicine or designee from the University of Louisville School of Medicine\nwho is a licensed physician pursuant to KRS Chapter 311;\n(d) The dean of the University of Pikeville College of Osteopathic Medicine or\ndesignee from  the University of Pikeville College of Osteopathic Medicine\nwho is a licensed physician pursuant to KRS Chapter 311;\n(e) The chair of the Physician Assistant Advisory Committee established\npursuant to KRS 311.842 who shall serve as an ex officio nonvoting  member;\nand\n(f) Eleven (11) members appointed by the Governor.\n(3) Of the Governor's appointees:\n(a) One (1) member shall be a licensed osteopathic physician and shall be\nappointed from a list of three (3) names submitted by the Kentucky\nOsteopathic Medical Association;\n(b) Seven (7) members shall be licensed medical physicians and shall be\nappointed from a list of three (3) names submitted for each position by the\nKentucky Medical Association; and\n(c) Three (3) members shall be citizens at large who are representatives of an y\nrecognized consumer advocacy groups with an interest in the delivery of\nhealth care and are not associated with or financially interested in the practice\nor business regulated.","path":["KRS Chapter 311"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=54801","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:04Z","sha256":"918e88c91405620aa92510c99f8933f05ebb73f647bcb53db52db8abecdd7178","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-311.520","next":"us-ky/krs-311.535"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
