{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-311.566","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 311.566","heading":"Restrictions on board's requirements for licensure.","body":"(1) As used in this section:\n(a) \"Continuing medical education\" means continued postgraduate medical\neducation intended to provide medical professionals with knowledge of new\ndevelopments in their field;\n(b) \"Maintenance of certification\" means any process req uiring periodic\nrecertification examinations to maintain specialty medical board certification;\n(c) \"Maintenance of licensure\" means the proprietary framework for physician\nlicense renewal established through the Federation of State Medical Boards or\nits s uccessor organization, which includes additional periodic testing other\nthan continuing medical education; and\n(d) \"Specialty medical board certification\" means certification by a board that\nspecializes in one (1) particular area of medicine and typically requires\nadditional and more strenuous examinations than the State Board of Medical\nLicensure's requirements to practice medicine.\n(2) The board shall not require any form of maintenance of licensure as a condition of\nphysician licensure, including requiri ng any form of maintenance of licensure tied\nto maintenance of certification.
