{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-311.645","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 311.645","heading":"Definitions for KRS 311.645 to 311.647.","body":"As used in KRS 311.645 to 311.647:\n(1) \"Anaphylaxis\" means an allergic reaction resulting from sensitization following\nprior contact with an antigen which can be a life -threatening emergency, including\nreactions triggered by, among other agents, foods, dru gs, injections, insect stings,\nand physical activity;\n(2) \"Administer\" means to directly apply an injectable epinephrine device to the body\nof an individual;\n(3) \"Asthma\" means a respiratory condition marked by coughing, wheezing, or\nshortness of breath often triggered by allergies, exercise, or irritants;\n(4) \"Authorized entity\" means an entity that may at any time have allergens present that\nare capable of causing a severe allergic reaction and has an individual who holds a\ncertificate issued under KRS 31 1.646 on the premises or officially associated with\nthe entity. The term includes but is not limited to licensed child -care centers and\ncertified family child -care homes, restaurants, recreation camps, youth sports\nleagues, theme parks and resorts, and sports arenas;\n(5) \"Bronchodilator rescue inhaler\" means medication used to relieve asthma symptoms\nor respiratory distress along with devices and device components needed to\nappropriately administer the medication, including but not limited to disposable\nspacers;\n(6) \"Certified individual\" means an individual who successfully completes an approved\neducational training program and obtains a certificate, as described in KRS\n311.646;\n(7) \"Injectable epinephrine device\" means a single -use device used to administe r a\npremeasured dose of epinephrine;\n(8) \"Health-care practitioner\" means a physician or other health -care provider who has\nprescriptive authority; and\n(9) \"Self-administration\" means an individual's administration of an injectable\nepinephrine device or bronchodilator rescue inhaler on herself or himself.","path":["KRS Chapter 311"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=51244","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:05Z","sha256":"779f0bc34316cf39b77db004712fb20cbdfe95dedf90cc20c176e63762b4e897","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-311.644","next":"us-ky/krs-311.646"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
