{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-311.848","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 311.848","heading":"Medical emergency -- Approval of additional physician assistants --","body":"Emergency permit.\n(1) As used in this section, \"medical emergency\" means a real and substantial threat to\npublic health or the health of an individual as determined by the executive d irector\nof the board that requires additional professional resources.\n(2) In a medical emergency, the board may approve an additional physician assistant for\na supervising physician practicing in this Commonwealth for a period not to exceed\nthirty (30) days who:\n(a) Submits satisfactorily completed forms to the board; and\n(b) Is licensed and in good standing in this Commonwealth.\n(3) In a medical emergency, the board may issue an emergency permit to a physician\nassistant who:\n(a) Is credentialed and in good standing in another state or Canadian province;\n(b) Submits satisfactorily completed forms to the board; and\n(c) Based on verifiable information, meets the requirements for licensure under\nKRS 311.844.\n(4) An emergency permit:\n(a) Shall be valid for a period of time not to exceed thirty (30) days;\n(b) Shall not be renewed or reissued and shall be immediately canceled if a\nmedical emergency no longer exists;\n(c) May be canceled by the executive director upon reasonable cause without a\nprior hearing; and\n(d) Shall not authorize a physician assistant to practice beyond a specified\ngeographical area, beyond the scope of practice encompassed by the medical\nemergency, or without the supervision of a supervising physician.","path":["KRS Chapter 311"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=30652","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:07Z","sha256":"71b83e710166cf98d7b9c7962515e6afb2fdd901fcd15615249714953c402022","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-311.846","next":"us-ky/krs-311.850"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
