{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-311.856","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 311.856","heading":"Duties of supervising physician.","body":"A supervising physician shall:\n(1) Restrict the services of a physician assistant to services within the physician\nassistant's scope of practice and to the provisions of KRS 311.840 to 311.862;\n(2) Prohibit a physician assistant from dispensing controlled substances;\n(3) Prohibit a physicia n assistant from prescribing or administering controlled\nsubstances, except as provided in KRS 311.858(4);\n(4) Require a physician assistant to wear identification that clearly states that he or she\nis a physician assistant;\n(5) Prohibit a physician assist ant from independently billing any patient or other payor\nfor services rendered by the physician assistant;\n(6) If necessary, participate with the governing body of any hospital or other licensed\nhealth care facility in a credentialing process established by the facility;\n(7) Not require a physician assistant to perform services or other acts that the physician\nassistant feels incapable of carrying out safely and properly;\n(8) Maintain supervision as outlined in the supervision agreement requirement\ndescribed in KRS 311.854 to ensure that the physician assistant is performing as\ndirected and complying with the agreement; and\n(9) Notify the board within three (3) business days if the supervising physician:\n(a) Ceases to supervise or employ the physician assistant; or\n(b) Believes in good faith that a physician assistant violated any disciplinary rule\nof KRS 311.840 to 311.862 or related administrative regulations.","path":["KRS Chapter 311"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=57573","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:07Z","sha256":"516e436c2c6c7640623a88f38e36d61d4f0f09787066275fcbb8fe43052f2171","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-311.854","next":"us-ky/krs-311.857"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
