{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-311a.025","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 311A.025","heading":"Levels of certification or licensure -- Administrative regulations --","body":"Emergency services medical director.\n(1) The board shall, subject to the provisions of this chapter, create levels of\ncertification or licensure, as appropriate for providing services under this chapter.\nThese may consist of but not be limited to:\n(a) Emergency medical services educator, Level I, II, and III;\n(b) Emergency medical responder;\n(c) Emergency medical technician and advanced emergency medical technician;\n(d) Paramedic, advanced practice paramedic, and paramedic preceptor;\n(e) Emergency medical services medical director who supervises a person or\norganization licensed or certified by the board;\n(f) Mobile integrated healthcare program medical director who su pervises an\nMIH program licensed by the board;\n(g) Emergency medical services training program;\n(h) Emergency medical services testing agency;\n(i) Ground ambulance service, including categories thereof;\n(j) Air ambulance service;\n(k) Medical first response provider;\n(l) Emergency medical dispatcher, emergency medical dispatch instructor, and\nemergency medical dispatch instructor trainer;\n(m) Emergency medical dispatch center or public safety answering point;\n(n) Emergency medical services training and education institute; and\n(o) Any other entity authorized by this chapter.\n(2) The board shall promulgate administrative regulations in accordance with KRS\nChapter 13A for any certification or license the board may create. The\nadministrative regulations shall, at a minimum, address:\n(a) Requirements for students, if appropriate;\n(b) Requirements for training;\n(c) Eligibility for certification or licensure; and\n(d) Renewal, recertification, and relicensure requirements.\n(3) The board may authorize a physician licensed to practice in Kentucky to serve as an\nemergency medical services medical director if that physician meets the\nrequirements specified by the board by administrative regulation.\n(4) A hospital that owns an ambulance service that i s exempt from certificate of need\npursuant to KRS 216B.020(7) may provide transport services from another health\nfacility to its hospital if authorized by the ambulance service provider with\njurisdiction in the territory in which the other health facility is located.","path":["KRS Chapter 311A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=57604","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:07Z","sha256":"27faf22a7f3e0293666a00315f7e1517ae737d19a3220d3088175ca16a94f86c","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-311a.024","next":"us-ky/krs-311a.027"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
