{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-311a.045","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 311A.045","heading":"Coordinator and other positions -- Emergency Medical Services for","body":"Children Program -- Funds received by program.\n(1) The board may employ or contract with a coordinator and other positions who shall\nserve at the pleasure of the board for the Emergenc y Medical Services for Children\nProgram for which funding is provided by the General Assembly or through any\nother sources, including gifts, grants, or federal funds.\n(2) The coordinator shall, subject to the direction of the board:\n(a) Implement and overs ee the Emergency Medical Services for Children\nProgram described in this section; and\n(b) Serve as liaison for collaboration and coordination between the Emergency\nMedical Services for Children Program, the board and other public and private\norganizations, the state traffic safety office, the maternal and child health\nprogram, the Medicaid department, the state and local child fatality review\nand response teams, state and local professional organizations, private sector\nvoluntary organizations, and consumer and community representatives.\n(3) The Emergency Medical Services for Children Program may include but not be\nlimited to the establishment of the following:\n(a) Guidelines for necessary out-of-hospital medical service equipment;\n(b) Guidelines and protoco ls for out -of-hospital pediatric emergency medical\nservices;\n(c) Assistance in the development and provision of professional education\nprograms for emergency medical services personnel for the provision of\nemergency care of infants and children;\n(d) Coordination and cooperation between the Emergency Medical Services for\nChildren Program and other public and private organizations interested or\ninvolved in emergency care for children, including those persons and\norganizations identified in subsection (2)(b) of this section; and\n(e) Assistance with the purchase of equipment for the provision of medical\nservices for children only.\nThe scope of activities carried out by and the provision of staff for the Emergency\nMedical Services for Children Program shall be c ommensurate with the availability\nof funds.\n(4) Funds received under this section may be distributed based upon a matching grant\nsystem to be developed by the board, and distribution shall be need -based. No\nsingle grant shall exceed two thousand dollars ($2,000) to the same grantee.\n(5) Funds received by the Emergency Medical Services for Children Program shall be\nplaced in a trust and agency account in the state treasury which shall not lapse\nunless grant provisions specify otherwise.
