{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-311a.167","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 311A.167","heading":"Procedures that an advanced medical technician may perform -- New","body":"curriculum or administrative regulation -- Reasonable control by employer --\nConstruction.\n(1) An advanced emergency medical technician may, subject to the provisions of this\nsection, perform:\n(a) Any procedure specified in the most recent curriculum of the United States\nDepartment of Transportation training course for advanced emergency\nmedical technicians; and\n(b) Any additional procedure authorized by the board by administrati ve\nregulation.\n(2) When there is a change in the United States Department of Transportation\ncurriculum for advanced emergency medical technicians or the board approves an\nadditional skill or procedure by administrative regulation, no person who was not\ntrained under that curriculum or administrative regulation shall perform any activity\nor procedure in the new curriculum or administrative regulation unless the person\nhas been trained according to the new curriculum or administrative regulation and\ndemonstrates competency in the new knowledge or skill. If the board adopts the\nnew procedure or skill, the board shall promulgate an administrative regulation\nspecifying the new procedure, training requirements, examination requirements, and\na time period during wh ich the advanced emergency medical technician shall\nsuccessfully complete the new material or lose his or her certification as an\nadvanced emergency medical technician.\n(3) Except as provided in subsection (2) of this section, nothing in this section shall\nprevent an employer from exercising reasonable fiscal control over the costs of\nproviding emergency medical services to its citizens nor prevent the employer from\nexercising any reasonable control over advanced emergency medical technicians\nproviding emer gency medical care upon behalf of the licensed entity or other\nprovider.\n(4) Nothing in this section shall be construed to permit utilization of a certified\nadvanced emergency medical technician for the purpose of the individual working\nwith primary respon sibility and duties limited to hospitals, physician's offices,\nclinics, or other definitive care facilities, except as an advanced emergency medical\ntechnician student.","path":["KRS Chapter 311A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=48868","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:08Z","sha256":"165e337bf40a8ad0836807c8f9ae8ef6b9b385149a3ba7bf77a3a0e6c0f3a84e","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-311a.165","next":"us-ky/krs-311a.170"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
