{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-311b.030","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 311B.030","heading":"Kentucky Board for Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy --","body":"Qualifications, terms, and nomination of members.\n(1) The Kentucky Board for Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy is hereby created\nto promote, preserve, and protect the public health, sa fety, and welfare of the\ncitizens of the Commonwealth of Kentucky by regulating and licensing individuals\nwho use ionizing or nonionizing radiation as advanced imaging professionals,\nmedical imaging technologists, radiographers, radiation therapists, nuclear medicine\ntechnologists, limited X -ray machine operators, or any combination of professions\nlicensed under this chapter. The board shall consist of nine (9) members appointed\nby the Governor, with the following qualifications:\n(a) Two (2) members shall b e licensed radiographers whose primary work\nresponsibilities are related to general diagnostic radiography;\n(b) Two (2) members shall be licensed radiographers with a post -primary\ncertification and whose primary work responsibilities are related to that po st-\nprimary certification;\n(c) One (1) member shall be a licensed nuclear medicine technologist;\n(d) One (1) member shall be a licensed radiation therapist;\n(e) One (1) member shall be a licensed limited X-ray machine operator;\n(f) One (1) member shall be a  licensed medical imaging technologist or therapist\nwho serves as an educator in an accredited program or as an administrator in a\nmedical imaging or radiation therapy department; and\n(g) One (1) member shall be an individual at -large from the general publ ic with\nno family or business relation to health care but with an interest in the rights\nof consumers of health services.\n(2) All board members, except the at -large member, shall have at least five (5) years of\nexperience in their respective areas of certi fication or licensure and shall maintain\nactive registry or certification and Kentucky licensure in medical imaging or\nradiation therapy during the term as a board member. Each board member shall be a\nresident of Kentucky or actively employed in medical im aging or radiation therapy\nin Kentucky, and shall be in good standing with the board.\n(3) (a) By May 1 of years in which terms expire, nominations of individuals for\nappointment to the board shall be submitted to the Governor and may be made\nby citizens of the Commonwealth of Kentucky through the Kentucky Society\nof Radiologic Technologists, the Kentucky Society of Nuclear Medicine\nTechnologists, the board, or other professional imaging or radiation therapy\norganizations that are recognized by the board.\n(b) No two (2) board members shall be residents of the same county.\n(c) A minimum of two (2) names per appointment shall be submitted to the\nGovernor.\n(4) The Governor shall make each appointment by September 1 for terms beginning\nNovember 1 of th at same year. The initial terms of appointment shall be staggered\nwith five (5) members appointed for four (4) years and four (4) members appointed\nfor two (2) years. Thereafter, members shall be appointed to the board for terms of\nfour (4) years, expiring  on October 31 of the fourth year. A board member may\nserve two (2) consecutive appointments.
