{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-311b.100","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 311B.100","heading":"License required -- Qualifications for various categories to be","body":"established by board -- Licensure of applicants licensed or certified in\nanother jurisdiction.\n(1) The  following individuals are required to apply for and receive a license from\nthe Commonwealth  of Kentucky before performance of any procedures utilizing\nradiation for either medical imaging or radiation therapy:\n(a) Advanced  imaging professionals;\n(b) Medical imaging technologists;\n(c) Radiographers;\n(d) Radiation therapists;\n(e) Nuclear medicine technologists; and\n(f) Limited X-ray machine operators.\n(2) Qualifications for the above categories shall be established by the board\nthrough the promulgation of administrative regulations. The board may  also\nidentify other specialties or categories of duties consistent with this chapter\nthrough the promulgation of administrative regulations.\n(3) An applicant for licensure under subsection (1)(a) to (e) of this section who did\nnot graduate from an accredited educational program, is licensed or certified in\nanother jurisdiction with requirements and privileges comparable to Kentucky's,\nand has:\n(a) Graduated from a postsecondary institution in a course of study focusing\non  one (1) of the licensing categories listed in subsection (1) of this\nsection;\n(b) Passed  a  certifying examination  from  a  national organization\ndemonstrating competence in his or her subject matter area;\n(c) An  active valid license or certificate and has not been professionally\ndisciplined or reprimanded by any credentialing jurisdiction or national\norganization; and\n(d) Provided the board with evidence of:\n1. At least five (5) years of experience as an advanced  imaging\nprofessional; and\n2. Maintenance of continuing education requirements during his or her\nperiod of licensure or certification;\nshall, upon application and payment of an application fee to the board, be\ngranted licensure by the board in his or her category, unless the board can\nshow cause for denial under KRS 311B.150(4).","path":["KRS Chapter 311B"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=45530","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:08Z","sha256":"083f181c00e22dd6d946e63f3460fdb85eb9c6e841308b3ed7673f5a551e0251","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-311b.090","next":"us-ky/krs-311b.110"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
