{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-312.015","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 312.015","heading":"Definitions for chapter.","body":"As used in this chapter, unless the context otherwise requires:\n(1) \"Board\" means the Kentucky State Board of Chiropractic Examiners;\n(2) Subject to the limitations of subsection (4) of this section \"chiropractic\" means the\nscience of diagnosing and adjust ing or manipulating the subluxations of the\narticulations of the human spine and its adjacent tissues;\n(3) Subject to the limitations of subsection (4) of this section \"chiropractor\" means one\nqualified by experience and training and licensed by the board to diagnose his\npatients and to treat those of his patients diagnosed as having diseases or disorders\nrelating to subluxations of the articulations of the human spine and its adjacent\ntissues by indicated adjustment or manipulation of those subluxations an d by\napplying methods of treatment designed to augment those adjustments or\nmanipulation. The terms \"chiropractic,\" \"doctor of chiropractic,\" and \"chiropractor\"\nshall be synonymous, and shall be construed to mean a practitioner of chiropractic\nas defined in this section.\n(4) \"Peer review\" means an evaluation, based upon generally accepted standards, by a\npeer review committee established in KRS 312.200 or by other persons performing\npeer review pursuant to KRS 312.200(3), of the appropriateness, quality, utilization,\nand cost of chiropractic health care and health service provided to a patient.\n(5) The practice of chiropractic shall not include the practice of medicine or osteopathy\nas defined in KRS 311.550, the practice of podiatry as defined in KRS 311.38 0, the\npractice of dentistry as defined in KRS 313.010, the practice of optometry as\ndefined in KRS 320.210, the practice as a nurse as defined in KRS 314.011, or the\npractice of pharmacy by persons licensed and registered under KRS 315.050.","path":["KRS Chapter 312"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=30759","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:08Z","sha256":"fc4cfcc2cfbcee0687c14de903db83be024fa0e2b02e1740ee7d1d21c54df8f3","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-312.010","next":"us-ky/krs-312.017"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
