{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-313.030","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 313.030","heading":"Licensing and registration of dentists, dental hygienists, and dental","body":"assistants -- Duration, expiration, and renewal -- Disciplinary action by board.\n(1) The license or registration held by a dentist, dental hygienist, or dental assistant\nshall be valid for a period of two (2) years.\n(2) Each license or registration held by a dentist, dental hygienist, or dental assistant\nshall expire on December 31. A dentist's license shall expire in odd -numbered\nyears, while all other licenses or registrations  issued by the board shall expire in\neven-numbered years.\n(3) Each license or registration held by any person issued under the provisions of this\nchapter shall be renewed at least biennially. Upon receipt of the application and fee,\nthe board shall verify the accuracy of the application to determine whether the\nlicensee or person seeking licensure or registration has met all the requirements as\nset forth in this chapter and in the administrative regulations promulgated by the\nboard, and, if so, shall issue to the applicant a license or registration to practice or\nengage in the activity for the ensuing licensure or registration period. Such license\nor registration shall render the holder a legal practitioner of the practice or activity\nspecified in the licens e or registration for the period stated on it. The board shall\nprescribe by administrative regulation promulgated in accordance with KRS\nChapter 13A the beginning and ending of the licensure or registration period.\n(4) Any person who is licensed or registered by the board who allows his or her license\nor registration to lapse by failing to renew the license or registration as provided in\nthis section may be reinstated by the board on payment of the current fee for\noriginal licensure or registration in addit ion to any late fees and by meeting the\nrequirements of administrative regulations promulgated by the board.\n(5) An application for renewal of a license or registration shall be completed online or,\nif a written request is made to the board prior to Novemb er 1 of the year of\nexpiration, a paper application shall be sent to the last known address of each\nlicensee or certified or registered person requesting a paper application.\n(6) Any person engaging in any practice or activity regulated by the board during  the\ntime his or her license or registration has lapsed shall be considered practicing with\nan expired license or registration and shall be subject to the penalties provided for\nviolations of this chapter.\n(7) Failure to receive the application for renewal  of a license or registration shall not\nrelieve a dentist, dental hygienist, or dental assistant from the duty to renew his or\nher license or registration prior to December 31 of the year in which the license or\nregistration expires.\n(8) The duration of an y license or registration issued by the board may be limited by\ndisciplinary action of the board.\n(9) Every license or registration issued by the board shall have the seal of the board\naffixed. A holder of a license or registration shall retain it in his o r her possession\nand be prepared to exhibit it upon demand by an employer or anyone to whom the\nholder of the license or registration offers treatment or any board member or staff\nmember of the board. Each license or registration issued by the board shall be\nposted in a conspicuous place in each place of employment of the dentist, dental\nhygienist, or dental assistant.\n(10) Failure or refusal to produce a license or registration upon demand shall be prima\nfacie evidence that no such license or registration exists.","path":["KRS Chapter 313"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=56876","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:09Z","sha256":"13d705ec0cff49a84eb9fe4fc637d4d874ed0588e71ea72512964c5386f778b2","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-313.022","next":"us-ky/krs-313.035"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
