{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-314.142","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 314.142","heading":"Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Program -- Advisory council -- Statewide","body":"sexual assault nurse examiner coordinator -- Statewide strategic plan for\nstatewide coverage -- State registry.\n(1) The Kentucky Board of Nursing shall promulgate administ rative regulations\npursuant to KRS Chapter 13A to create a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Program.\nThese administrative regulations shall address, at a minimum:\n(a) Educational requirements for sexual assault nurse examiners and statewide\nstandards for provision of the education;\n(b) The application process through which registered nurses who submit\ndocumentation of required education and clinical experience and who remit\nthe designated application fee may apply to the board to be credentialed as a\n\"Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner\";\n(c) Continuing education requirements for maintenance of the sexual assault\nnurse examiner credential;\n(d) Methods of monitoring overall program implementation; and\n(e) Procedures for obtaining input from the Sexual Assault Response  Team\nAdvisory Committee established under KRS Chapter 403 prior to proposing\namendments to any provision of the administrative regulations promulgated\nunder this section or KRS 314.131.\n(2) Any person in this state who holds a credential as a Sexual Assau lt Nurse Examiner\nas defined in KRS 314.011(14) shall have the right to use the title \"Sexual Assault\nNurse Examiner\" and the abbreviation \"SANE\". No other person shall assume the\ntitle or use the abbreviation or any other words, letters, signs, or figures  to indicate\nthat the person using the same is a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner.\n(3) The board shall employ a health professional as a statewide sexual assault nurse\nexaminer (SANE) coordinator to support the logistical operations of the SANE\nProgram and individual SANEs credentialed under this section.\n(4) The board shall establish a description, essential duties, and responsibilities of the\nSANE coordinator position that shall include but not be limited to:\n(a) Identifying and recruiting potential SANEs across the state;\n(b) Organizing and facilitating comprehensive SANE training programs;\n(c) Establishing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders such as\nhospitals, law enforcement agencies, rape crisis advocates, and others; and\n(d) Increasing SANE Program collaboration by creating opportunities for\nnetworking and building rapport among SANE training programs.\n(5) The board shall collaborate with the Kentucky Hospital Association, the Cabinet for\nHealth and Family Services, the Sexual Assault Response Team Advisory\nCommittee, and any other entities deemed appropriate by the board, to d evelop a\nstatewide strategic plan that utilizes a regional model to ensure SANE coverage for\nall Kentucky hospitals. The strategic plan shall be submitted to the Legislative\nResearch Commission for referral to the Interim Joint Committee on Health\nServices by December 1, 2026.\n(6) The board shall develop a state registry of SANEs and make it accessible from the\nboard's website by registered SANEs and Kentucky hospitals. The registry shall be\noperational by December 1, 2026.\n(7) The board shall notify each newly registered SANE that the state registry of SANEs\nis available on the board's website as required in subsection (6) of this section.","path":["KRS Chapter 314"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=57432","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:10Z","sha256":"79e963fd1e804bdcfdea8a1f2ebffc7f664d786b914e659e531900c8b1eb8b9e","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-314.141","next":"us-ky/krs-314.145"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
