This license shall be effective until the date that the funeral\nestablishment's former license would have expired. The funeral establishment shall\nbe required to make an application for renewal under this chapter as a full -service\nfuneral establishment.\n(2) A funeral establishment licensed on July 12, 2006, that meets the defi nition of an\nembalming service establishment shall be issued a license for an embalming service\nestablishment. This license shall be effective until the date that the funeral\nestablishment's former license would have expired. The funeral establishment shal l\nbe required to make an application for renewal under this chapter as an embalming\nservice establishment.\n(3) A funeral establishment licensed on July 12, 2006, that does not meet the definition\nof a full -service funeral establishment or embalming service  establishment shall be\nissued a license for a visitation and ceremonial funeral service establishment. This\nlicense shall be renewable as a visitation and ceremonial funeral service\nestablishment license for the entire time of the establishment's existenc e, subject to\nthe restrictions of subsection (4) of this section, or until the board approves the\nestablishment's application for another type of establishment license.\n(4) A visitation and ceremonial funeral service establishment that is licensed as a\nfuneral establishment prior to July 12, 2006, shall be exempt from the requirement\nof ownership in whole or in part by an affiliated full -service funeral establishment.\nThis exemption shall lapse if the visitation and ceremonial funeral service\nestablishment is sold, ceases to exist, or engages in any activity that changes its\nlicense.","path":["KRS Chapter 316"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=31067","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:12Z","sha256":"0d1ff6e9b4adf81a0b9a912f1c6d539956c9097114fb12d119230aa035fc2898","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-316.125","next":"us-ky/krs-316.130"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
