{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-316.165","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 316.165","heading":"Business of providing surface transportation or removal of dead human","body":"bodies -- Permit to authorize -- Providers and activities not eligible for permit -\n- Administrative regulations.\n(1) Any person employed by a full -service funeral establishme nt or an embalming\nservice establishment, except a common carrier engaged in interstate commerce, the\nCommonwealth and its agencies, or an emergency medical services provider duly\ncertified or licensed pursuant to KRS Chapter 311A, who wants to engage in t he\nbusiness of surface transportation or removal of dead human bodies in the\nCommonwealth, shall apply for and may be granted a permit from the board.\n(2) Surface transportation and removal services shall not include:\n(a) The arrangement or conduction of funerals;\n(b) The provision for the care or preparation, including embalming, of dead\nhuman bodies; or\n(c) The sale or provision of funeral-related goods and services;\nwithout also the issuance of a funeral service establishment license or an embalming\nservice establishment license.\n(3) The board shall promulgate administrative regulations related to the processes and\nprocedures for the permitting of persons to provide surface transportation and\nremoval services of dead human bodies.","path":["KRS Chapter 316"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=49271","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:12Z","sha256":"5107efc31d0dcc5b679fb5acbed16bed0853b435d63ab241609ec4f4ffa19732","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-316.160","next":"us-ky/krs-316.170"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
