{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-317.430","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 317.430","heading":"Kentucky Board of Barbering -- Membership -- Terms -- Compensation.","body":"(1) There is hereby created an independent agency of the state government to be known\nas the Kentucky Board of Barbering, which shall have complete supervision over\nthe adm inistration of the provisions of this chapter relating to barbers, barbering,\nbarber shops, mobile barber shops, independent contract owners, barber schools,\nand the teaching of barbering.\n(2) The board shall be composed of five (5) members appointed by th e Governor. Four\n(4) members shall be barbers holding a valid license and practicing in Kentucky.\nOne (1) member shall be a citizen at large who is not associated with or financially\ninterested in barbering. At all times in the filling of vacancies of membership on the\nbarber board, this balance of representation shall be maintained.\n(3) The two (2) members appointed to fill the terms beginning on February 1, 2008,\nshall serve until February 1, 2011, and the three (3) members appointed to fill the\nterms beg inning on February 1, 2007, shall serve until February 1, 2010. All\nsubsequent appointments shall be for a term of three (3) years, with terms ending on\nFebruary 1.\n(4) The Governor shall not remove any member of the board except for cause.\n(5) The board s hall elect from its members one (1) to serve as chairman, one (1) to\nserve as vice chairman, and a third to serve as secretary.\n(6) Three (3) members shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business.\n(7) In addition to the other qualifications spe cified in this section, barber members of\nthe board shall be at least twenty -three (23) years of age, citizens of the United\nStates, residents of Kentucky, and must have engaged in the practice of barbering in\nthis state for a period of at least five (5) years.\n(8) No member of the board shall be financially interested in, or have any financial\nconnection with, any barber or cosmetology school, wholesale cosmetic or barber\nsupply or equipment business, nor shall any member of the barber board teach\nbarbering, cosmetology, or manicuring for monetary considerations.\n(9) Each member of the board shall receive a compensation of one hundred dollars\n($100) per day for each day of attendance at a meeting of the board, and shall be\nreimbursed for necessary traveling expenses.\n(10) The board shall hold its meetings within the state and when deemed necessary by\nthe board to discharge its duties.","path":["KRS Chapter 317"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=56217","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:13Z","sha256":"bc001b9aabddec91ae3a473f4afc18247c404cd51def04fe88d22160c4c9dbcc","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-317.420","next":"us-ky/krs-317.440"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
