{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-317.540","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 317.540","heading":"Requirements for barber schools.","body":"No license shall be renewed or issued by the board to any barber school, unless the school\nprovides:\n(1) The name of the proposed school;\n(2) A statement that the proposed school is authorized to operate educational programs\nbeyond secondary education;\n(3) As a prerequisite of graduation, a prescribed course of instruction of not less than\nfifteen hundred (1,500) hours shall be given within a reasonable period with not\nmore than eight (8) hours nor less than four (4) hours of instruction a day, exclusive\nof Sundays;\n(4) Courses of instruction in histology of the hair, skin, muscles, and nerves of the face\nand neck; elementary chemistry with emphasis on sterilization and antiseptics;\ndisease of the skin, hair, and glands; massaging and manipulating of the mus cles of\nthe upper body; cutting, shaving, arranging, dressing, coloring, bleaching, and\ntinting the hair and such other courses as may be prescribed by regulation of the\nboard; and\n(5) Such facilities, equipment, materials, and qualified teachers as may be  required by\nrules and regulations of the board adopted pursuant to this chapter, but in no event\nshall any school have fewer than one (1) licensed teacher per twenty (20) students\nenrolled, or more than two (2) students per chair.","path":["KRS Chapter 317"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=47201","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:13Z","sha256":"6559ab8e9910f996be5d693a744715928bbee3f5ae11eacfab0d29c05000a26f","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-317.530","next":"us-ky/krs-317.550"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
