{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-317a.030","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 317A.030","heading":"Board of Cosmetology -- Membership -- Compensation.","body":"(1) There is created an independent agency of the state government to be known as the\nKentucky Board of Cosmetology, which shall have complete supervision over the\nadministration of t he provisions of this chapter relating to cosmetology,\ncosmetologists, schools of cosmetology, or esthetic practices or nail technology,\nstudents, estheticians, nail technicians, instructors of cosmetology, instructors of\nesthetic practices, or instructors  of nail technology, cosmetology salons, esthetic\nsalons, and nail salons.\n(2) The board shall be composed of seven (7) members appointed by the Governor as\nfollows:\n(a) Four (4) of the members shall have been cosmetologists five (5) years prior to\ntheir appointment and shall reside in Kentucky:\n1. Two (2) of whom shall be cosmetology salon owners;\n2. One (1) of whom shall be a cosmetology teacher in public education and\nshall not own any interest in a cosmetology salon; and\n3. One (1) of whom shall be an o wner of or one who shall have a financial\ninterest in a licensed cosmetology school and shall be a member of a\nnationally recognized association of cosmetologists;\n(b) One (1) member shall be a licensed nail technician;\n(c) One (1) member shall be a licensed esthetician;\n(d) One (1) member shall be a citizen at large who is not associated with or\nfinancially interested in the practices or businesses regulated; and\n(e) None of whom nor the executive director shall be financially interested in, or\nhave any financial connection w ith, wholesale cosmetic supply or equipment\nbusinesses.\nAt all times in the filling of vacancies of membership on the board, this balance of\nrepresentation shall be maintained.\n(3) Appointments shall be for a term of two (2) years, ending on February 1.\n(4) The Governor shall not remove any member of the board except for cause.\n(5) The board shall elect from its members a chair, a vice chair, and a secretary.\n(6) Four (4) members shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of any board\nbusiness.\n(7) Each member of the board shall receive one hundred dollars ($100) per day for each\nday of attendance at board meetings, and shall be reimbursed for necessary\ntraveling expenses and necessary expenses incurred in the performance of duties\npertaining to official business of the board.\n(8) The board shall hold meetings at the place in the state and at the times deemed\nnecessary by the board to discharge its duties.","path":["KRS Chapter 317A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=54797","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:13Z","sha256":"8ad156dd9994ec5485a3611a8b9fff4f3816f12f189b2b60fffe7c41d0b7419d","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-317a.020","next":"us-ky/krs-317a.040"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
