{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-317a.155","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 317A.155","heading":"Cosmetologists, estheticians, limited stylists, and nail technicians must","body":"practice in licensed establishments -- Services to hospice patients, deceased\npersons in the care of funeral establishments, and persons suffering from\nattested medical conditions.\n(1) As used in this section, \"funeral establishment\" means funeral establishment as\ndefined in KRS 316.010.\n(2) Every person practicing as a cosmetologist, esthetician, limited stylist, or nail\ntechnician shall practice in an establishment licensed by the board.\n(3) Notwithstanding subsection (2) of this section, persons holding an active license\nfrom the board as a cosmetologist, esthetician, limited stylist, or nail technician and\nwho practice in salons licensed by the board shall be permi tted to render services\noutside of an establishment licensed by the board for pay, free, or otherwise, to:\n(a) A person suffering from a terminal illness and who is receiving the services of\na hospice program either at home or at a hospice inpatient unit;\n(b) A person who is deceased and in the care of a funeral establishment; or\n(c) A person suffering from a medical condition, as attested by a physician in\nwriting, which limits physical mobility to such an extent that it would impose\nan undue burden on tha t person to attempt to travel to an establishment\nlicensed by the board.\n(4) Cosmetologists, estheticians, limited stylists, and nail technicians who render\nservices authorized in subsection (3) of this section shall have the permission of the\nowner or administrator of the establishment where the services are rendered and the\npermission of the person, or their legal representative, upon whom services will be\nrendered.","path":["KRS Chapter 317A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=53219","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:14Z","sha256":"309a71b62caa5ddd22894c8fe48881a191ff4d990c57618600a81db404df06e1","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-317a.150","next":"us-ky/krs-317a.160"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
