{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-318.030","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 318.030","heading":"License and general liability insurance required.","body":"(1) No person shall engage in plumbing or engage in or work at the trade of plumbing:\n(a) Unless he or she is the holder of a valid and effective active master plumber's\nlicense duly issued by the department in accordance with the provisions of this\nchapter; or\n(b) Unless he or she is the holder of a valid and effective journeyman plumber's\nlicense duly issued by the department in accordance with the provisions of this\nchapter.\n(2) (a) No person, firm, or corporation shall engage in plumbing or engage in or work\nat the trade of plumbing unless the person, firm, or corporation maintains\ngeneral liability insurance in an amount not less than two hundred fifty\nthousand dollars ($250,000) and submits proof of compliance with workers'\ncompensation and unemployment insurance laws of the Commonwealth.\n(b) Proof of insurance required in this subsection shall be submitted to the\ndepartment prior to issuance or renewal of the active master plumber license\nrequired under this chapter.\n(c) No license shall be valid without i nsurance as required in this subsection, and\ninsurance carriers shall notify the department upon cancellation of the\ninsurance of any licensee required to maintain insurance.\n(d) The insurance required in this subsection shall not apply to an employee of a\nperson, firm, or corporation engaged in plumbing as defined in this chapter.","path":["KRS Chapter 318"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=31186","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:14Z","sha256":"45d133c413a302ee9359aee131d755e528febf52294e06ff24d31412d3f1da19","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-318.020","next":"us-ky/krs-318.040"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
