{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-318.054","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 318.054","heading":"License expiration -- Notice -- Renewal and revival fees -- Evidence of","body":"completion of continuing education -- Interim period for use of recently\ndeceased owner's or employee's master plumber's license.\n(1) The initial license for a master or jo urneyman plumber shall expire on the last day\nof the licensee's birth month in the following year. The department may reduce the\nlicense fee on a pro rata basis for initial licenses issued for less than twelve (12)\nmonths. Renewed licenses shall expire on the last day of the licensee's birth month\nof each year after the date of issuance of the renewed license.\n(2) The department shall require an applicant for renewal of a license to show evidence\nof completing the continuing education requirements establish ed by the department\nin administrative regulations promulgated under KRS 318.130.\n(3) The department shall send each licensed master and journeyman plumber a notice\nadvising them that the annual license renewal fee is due. The notice shall be sent to\nthe licensee's last known address no later than thirty (30) days prior to the expiration\nof the license. The annual license renewal fee shall be a reasonable fee set by\nregulation of the department. The fee for the renewal of a master plumber's license\nshall exceed the fee charged for a journeyman plumber's license.\n(4) A master or journeyman plumber who fails to renew a license prior to expiration\nmay have the license renewed upon payment of the required renewal fee, a revival\nfee, and upon showing the completi on of continuing education requirements. The\nrevival fee for a master plumber shall be five dollars ($5) and for a journeyman\nplumber three dollars ($3). If the renewal and revival fees are not paid within one\nhundred eighty (180) days after the license ex pires, the license shall be\nautomatically canceled by operation of law for nonpayment. A license may be\nreinstated upon payment of all delinquent renewal fees plus a revival fee of ten\ndollars ($10) for a master plumber and six dollars ($6) for a journeyma n plumber.\nUpon presentation of proper evidence, the department may waive payment of any\nrenewal or revival fee for a person serving on active duty in the Armed Forces of\nthe United States.\n(5) (a) The department shall grant an interim period of up to one hundred eighty\n(180) continuous calendar days to allow a company to utilize the master\nplumber's license of a recently deceased owner or deceased employee who\nprocured plumbing permits for that company, provided that the company:\n1. Effectuates and documents all necessary bonding and insurance policies\nrequired in this chapter; and\n2. Ensures that the bonding and insurance policies remain in effect for the\nentirety of the interim time period extended by the department.\n(b) The license of a deceased master  plumber shall be terminated by the\ndepartment at the end of the interim period.\n(c) Upon termination of the deceased master plumber's license, a company shall\nhave an employee with a current and valid Kentucky master plumber's license\nin order to procure permits and perform plumbing work governed by this\nchapter.","path":["KRS Chapter 318"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=47500","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:14Z","sha256":"45ecb1976a0b167d2138fc90eb1a04b6d0cffa3a13c604818fd0448e05ffdc26","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-318.050","next":"us-ky/krs-318.056"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
