{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-319.010","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 319.010","heading":"Definitions.","body":"As used in this chapter unless the context requires otherwise:\n(1) \"Association\" means the Kentucky Psychological Association;\n(2) \"Board\" means the Kentucky Board of Examiners of Psychology;\n(3) \"Credential holder\" means any person who is regulated by the board;\n(4) \"EPPP\" means the Examination for Professional Prac tice in Psychology developed\nby the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards;\n(5) \"IPC\" means the Interjurisdictional Practice Certificate developed by the\nAssociation of State and Provincial Psychology Boards;\n(6) \"License\" means the credenti al issued by the board to a licensed psychologist,\nlicensed psychological practitioner, certified psychologist with autonomous\nfunctioning, certified psychologist, or a licensed psychological associate;\n(7) \"Practice of psychology\" means rendering to indiv iduals, groups, organizations, or\nthe public any psychological service involving the application of principles,\nmethods, and procedures of understanding, predicting, and influencing behavior,\nsuch as the principles pertaining to learning, perception, motiv ation, thinking,\nemotions, and interpersonal relationships; the methods and procedures of\ninterviewing, counseling, and psychotherapy; and psychological testing in\nconstructing, administering, and interpreting tests of mental abilities, aptitudes,\ninterests, attitudes, personality characteristics, emotion, and motivation. The\napplication of said principles in testing, evaluation, treatment, use of\npsychotherapeutic techniques, and other methods includes, but is not limited to:\ndiagnosis, prevention, and ame lioration of adjustment problems and emotional,\nmental, nervous, and addictive disorders and mental health conditions of individuals\nand groups; educational and vocational counseling; the evaluation and planning for\neffective work and learning situations; and the resolution of interpersonal and social\nconflicts;\n(8) \"Psychotherapy\" means the use of learning, conditioning methods, and emotional\nreactions, in a professional relationship, to assist a person or persons to modify\nfeelings, attitudes, and behavio r which are intellectually, socially, or emotionally\nmaladjustive or ineffectual; and\n(9) \"Psychologist\" means any person who holds himself or herself out by any title or\ndescription of services incorporating the words \"psychologic,\" \"psychological,\"\n\"psychologist,\" \"psychology,\" \"psychopractice,\" or any other term or terms that\nimply he or she is trained, experienced, or an expert in the field of psychology.","path":["KRS Chapter 319"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=31220","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:14Z","sha256":"6c2bc46887c9aefb6a7f95647111f2e13e1161c67fe17c9081cd2ed746e9efee","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-319.005","next":"us-ky/krs-319.015"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
