{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-319.053","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 319.053","heading":"Licensed psychological practitioner.","body":"(1) A person holding a credential as a certified psychologist or as a licensed\npsychological associate may apply for a license to perform certain functions within\nthe practice of psychology without supervision and to use the title of \"licensed\npsychological practitioner\" when all of the following conditions are met:\n(a) Submission of three (3) letters of endorsement to the board to sit for the\nexamination;\n1. One (1) of the letters shall be from the applicant's current board -\napproved supervisor of record and sh all include a statement describing\nthe scope of practice demonstrated in the clinical experience of the\napplicant; and\n2. Two (2) letters shall be from licensed mental health professionals who\nare acceptable to the board and who are familiar with the clini cal work\nof the applicant;\n(b) Payment of a fee not to exceed two hundred dollars ($200);\n(c) Documentation of at least sixty (60) semester hours of graduate study in\npsychology or a related field or its equivalent acceptable to the board; and\n(d) Completion, after credentialing by the board as a certified psychologist,\npsychological associate, or licensed psychological associate, of the equivalent\nof two (2) full -time years of professional experience under the supervision of\na board-approved licensed psychologist.\n(2) An applicant for licensure under this section shall not have been subject to\ndisciplinary action by the board. An applicant who has been the subject of\ndisciplinary action may appeal to the board for an exception.\n(3) An applicant for licensure under this section shall be required by the board to pass\nthe national objective examination known as the EPPP, with a score equal to or\nexceeding the score required for passage for a licensed psychologist candidate at the\ndoctoral level at the time the examination is taken. The board shall accept the\napplicant's previous examination results for the objective EPPP examination if the\noriginal test score satisfied the licensure requirement at the doctoral level in effect\nat the time of that test administration. If the applicant's previous score does not meet\nthis criterion, the applicant may retake the examination until the score obtained\nequals or exceeds the score required for independent practice at the doctoral level at\nthe time the examination is taken.\n(4) The board shall require an applicant for licensure under this section to pass an\nexamination on psychological practice, ethical principles, and the law. The\nexamination shall be conducted in accordance with procedures establis hed in\nadministrative regulations promulgated by the board in accordance with KRS\nChapter 13A. The examination shall be evaluated using the same criteria as the\nexamination for licensed psychologist candidates.\n(5) The applicant may continue to function un der the supervision of a board -approved\nlicensed psychologist until the applicant successfully completes the requirements\nfor licensure as a licensed psychological practitioner.\n(6) The board shall grade and keep the examinations and results on file for one (1) year.\nUpon written request to the board, an applicant may arrange to discuss his or her\nperformance on the examinations.\n(7) Upon successful completion of all requirements, the board shall issue to the\napplicant a license to perform certain functions  within the practice of psychology\nwithout supervision and to use the title \"licensed psychological practitioner.\"\n(8) The licensee under this section shall not supervise certified psychologists, licensed\npsychological practitioners, or licensed psychological associates.","path":["KRS Chapter 319"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=54964","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:14Z","sha256":"40f7e6c31d819113fa30ed6a96e402575aedf9b65f494a1e49f34f1296f5056a","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-319.050","next":"us-ky/krs-319.054"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
