{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-320.220","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 320.220","heading":"Licensure requirement -- Exemptions.","body":"(1) No person shall practice optometry in this Commonwealth or hold himself or\nherself out as being able to do so unless he or she is the holder of a license duly\nissued to him or her by the board and registered in the manner provided by KRS\n320.290.\n(2) A lic ense to practice optometry shall not be required by physicians or osteopaths\ncurrently licensed to practice medicine or osteopathy at any place in the\nCommonwealth of Kentucky.\n(3) Nothing in this chapter shall be construed to prohibit persons from fitting, adjusting,\nor dispensing visual aid glasses or other lenses or appurtenances if the fitting,\nadjusting, or dispensing is done upon the written prescription of a currently licensed\noptometrist, physician, or osteopath, nor shall this chapter be construed as requiring\nthese persons to be licensed under this chapter.\n(4) Nothing in this chapter or in the administrative regulations promulgated by the\nboard pursuant to this chapter shall be interpreted to limit or restrict a licensed\nhealth care practitioner o r provider from engaging in the full scope of practice\nauthorized by the license for that person's profession, training, or services.","path":["KRS Chapter 320"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=39522","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:16Z","sha256":"e80afb0d7b05b74bf5f53e5d2b155170590ebd42e493dffff42f53fe50ce4ec3","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-320.210","next":"us-ky/krs-320.230"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
