{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-321.201","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 321.201","heading":"Special permits -- Duration.","body":"(1) The board may issue a special permit to practice veterinary medicine to an\nunlicensed veterinarian who is a qualified applicant to become a licensed\nveterinarian and who is awaiting the pending results of a board -approved national\nexamination or the final examination stage of an approved foreign education\nequivalency program.\n(2) Individuals seeking to obtain a special permit shall apply to the board for licensure\nand shall be employed by and working under the direct supervision of a Kentucky -\nlicensed veterinarian. The application shall include a letter of recommendation and\nacknowledgement of supervisory responsibilities and shall be signed by each\nsupervising licensed veterinarian.\n(3) The special permit shall not be issued until the application has been s ubmitted to\ntake the next examination given by an approved examination provider.\n(4) The special permit shall expire seven (7) business days after the notice of results of\nthe first examination given after the permit was issued.\n(5) A special permit holder may be subject to the disciplinary procedures as set forth in\nKRS 321.351.\n(6) If the special permit holder does not pass an examination attempt, the person may\napply for and obtain a new special permit for subsequent examination attempts.
