{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-321.208","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 321.208","heading":"Renewal of animal euthanasia specialist certificate and animal control","body":"agency certificate.\n(1) Each person who is certified as an animal euthanasia specialist shall submit a\ncomplete renewal application by the renewal deadline and pay to the boar d an\nannual renewal fee for the renewal of the person's certificate.\n(2) Each animal shelter that is certified as an animal control agency shall submit a\ncompleted renewal application by the renewal deadline and pay to the board an\nannual renewal fee for the renewal of the animal control agency certificate.\n(3) A sixty (60) day grace period shall be allowed after the renewal deadline, during\nwhich time individuals and agencies may renew their certificates upon submission\nof a completed application, and paym ent of the renewal fee and a late fee to the\nboard. Any certificate that was not renewed by the grace period deadline shall\nexpire. Upon expiration, the holder of that certificate is no longer eligible to\npractice animal euthanasia in the Commonwealth or m aintain a United States Drug\nEnforcement Administration controlled substances registration.\n(4) After the sixty (60) day grace period, individuals and agencies with an expired\ncertificate may have their certificates reinstated upon submission of a complete d\nreinstatement application and payment of a reinstatement fee to the board if the\nreinstatement application is made within five (5) years from the date of expiration.\nAnimal control agencies may be subject to inspection prior to reinstatement.\n(5) A suspe nded certificate is subject to expiration and termination and shall be\nrenewed as provided in this chapter. Renewal or reinstatement shall not entitle the\ncertificate holder to engage in the practice until the suspension has ended or is\notherwise removed by the board and the right to practice is restored by the board.\n(6) A revoked certificate is subject to expiration or termination but may not be\nrenewed. If it is reinstated, the certificate holder shall pay the reinstatement fee.\n(7) A person or agency that fails to reinstate its certificate within five (5) years after its\nexpiration or termination shall not have it renewed, restored, reissued, or reinstated.\nA person or agency may apply for and obtain a new certificate by meeting the\nrequirements of this chapter.\n(8) The board may require that a person or agency applying for renewal or\nreinstatement of the certificate show evidence of completion of additional training\nor continuing education as set forth by administrative regulation promulgated in\naccordance with KRS Chapter 13A.\n(9) The board may grant retired or inactive certificate status for certified animal\neuthanasia specialists and may establish conditions under which retired or inactive\ncertificates may be renewed as set forth by administrative regu lations promulgated\nin accordance with KRS Chapter 13A.\n(10) The board shall require any applicant seeking to become registered as the\ndesignated on -site manager for an animal control agency to submit to a criminal\nbackground investigation conducted in accordance with KRS 321.189.","path":["KRS Chapter 321"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=53926","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:16Z","sha256":"3f59449c7da013f821345a68bfe5928c4fc4a0947a3b7fdcdea6230685ed9276","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-321.207","next":"us-ky/krs-321.210"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
