{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-321.211","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 321.211","heading":"Renewal of veterinarian license -- Fees -- Expiration and termination of","body":"license -- Reinstatement -- Continuing education -- Retired or inactive\nlicensure status.\n(1) Each person licensed as a veterinarian shall biennially submit a completed renewal\napplication and pay to the board a renewal fee for the renewal of the person's\nlicense.\n(2) A sixty (60) day grace period shall be allowed after the renewal deadline, as\nrequired for renewal in subsection (1) of this section, during which time indi viduals\nmay renew their licenses upon submission of a completed renewal application and\npayment of the renewal fee plus a late renewal fee. All licenses not renewed by the\ngrace period deadline shall expire based on the failure of the individual to renew i n\na timely manner. Upon expiration, the licensee is no longer eligible to engage in the\npractice of veterinary medicine in the Commonwealth.\n(3) After the sixty (60) day grace period, individuals with an expired license may have\ntheir licenses reinstated u pon submission of a completed reinstatement application\nand payment of a reinstatement fee. No person who applies for reinstatement after\nexpiration of the person's veterinarian license shall be required to submit to an\nexamination as a condition for reins tatement, if the reinstatement application is\nmade within five (5) years from the date of expiration.\n(4) A suspended veterinarian license is subject to expiration and termination and shall\nbe renewed as provided in this chapter. Renewal or reinstatement s hall not entitle\nthe licensee to engage in the practice of veterinary medicine until the suspension\nhas ended, or is otherwise removed by the board and the right to practice is restored\nby the board.\n(5) A revoked license is subject to expiration or termination but may not be renewed. If\nit is reinstated, the licensee shall pay the reinstatement fee.\n(6) A person who fails to reinstate the person's veterinarian license within five (5) years\nafter its expiration or termination shall not have it renewed, rest ored, reissued, or\nreinstated. A person may apply for and obtain a new license by meeting the\nrequirements of this chapter.\n(7) The board may require that a person applying for renewal or reinstatement of\nlicensure show evidence of completion of continuing  education as promulgated by\nthe board in administrative regulation.\n(8) The board may grant retired or inactive licensure status and may establish\nconditions under which retired or inactive licenses may be renewed and reinstated\nas set forth by the board in administrative regulation.","path":["KRS Chapter 321"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=53938","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:16Z","sha256":"94faaab85832faa5644c3b133036e9359d918f93d994e141b922282c50ae461c","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-321.210","next":"us-ky/krs-321.220"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
