{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-321.253","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 321.253","heading":"Allied animal health professional license -- Renewal application -- Expired,","body":"suspended, or revoked licenses -- Continuing education requirement -- Retired\nor inactive status -- Fees to cover cost of operating licensee program.\n(1) Each AAHP licensee shall submit a completed renewal application to the board and\npay a renewal fee for the renewal of the license.\n(2) A sixty (60) day grace period shall be allowed after the renewal deadline during\nwhich individuals may renew their licenses upon sub mission of a completed\nrenewal application and payment of the renewal fee plus a late renewal fee. All\nlicenses not renewed by the grace period deadline shall expire based on the failure\nof the individual to renew in a timely manner. Upon expiration, the l icensee is no\nlonger eligible to practice as an allied animal health professional in the\nCommonwealth.\n(3) After the sixty (60) day grace period, individuals with an expired license may have\ntheir licenses reinstated upon submission of a completed reinstat ement application\nand payment of the renewal fee, the renewal late fee, and the reinstatement fee. A\nperson who applies for reinstatement after expiration of the person's AAHP license\nshall not be required to submit to an examination as a condition for rei nstatement, if\nthe reinstatement application is made within five (5) years from the date of\nexpiration.\n(4) A suspended AAHP license is subject to expiration and termination and shall be\nrenewed as provided in this chapter. Renewal or reinstatement shall n ot entitle the\nlicensee to engage in practice as an allied animal health professional until the\nsuspension has ended or is otherwise resolved by the board and the right to practice\nis restored by the board.\n(5) A revoked license is subject to expiration or termination but may not be renewed. If\na revoked license is reinstated, the licensee shall pay a reinstatement fee.\n(6) A person who fails to reinstate his or her AAHP license within five (5) years after\nits expiration or termination shall not have it ren ewed, restored, reissued, or\nreinstated and the person may apply for and obtain a new license by meeting the\nrequirements of this chapter.\n(7) The board may require that a person applying for renewal or reinstatement of a\nlicense provide evidence of comple tion of continuing education as promulgated by\nthe board in an administrative regulation.\n(8) The board may grant retired or inactive license status and may establish conditions\nunder which retired or inactive licenses may be renewed and reinstated as set forth\nby the board in an administrative regulation.\n(9) Fees set by the board shall be designed to fully cover the cost to operate the licensee\nprogram but shall not exceed it.","path":["KRS Chapter 321"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=56278","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:17Z","sha256":"87b6e080126ea66f35d2054d132571fdf38b89cb80235fcc5b838cc520343178","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-321.251","next":"us-ky/krs-321.255"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
