{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-321.443","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 321.443","heading":"Veterinary assistants -- Duties.","body":"(1) A veterinary assistant shall only work in the Commonwealth in the following\ncircumstances:\n(a) Under the supervision of a licensed veterinarian where a VCPR exists; or\n(b) Under the direct supervision of a licensed veterinary technician who is under\nthe supervision of a licensed veterinarian where a VCPR exists.\n(2) Duties of a veterinary assistant shall exclude diagnosing, prescribing medication or\ntreatment, and performance of surgical procedures other than castrating and\ndehorning of food animals.\n(3) A veterinary assistant and the veterinary assistant's employer shall not represent the\nveterinary assistant as a veterinary technician.\n(4) A veterinary assistant who performs the duties of a veterinary assistant contrary to\nthis chapter or outside the scope  defined by the board shall be subject to\ndisciplinary actions in a manner consistent with this chapter applicable to licensed\nveterinarians.\n(5) A veterinarian shall utilize the service of a veterinary assistant in accordance with\nthe terms and provisions  of this chapter and its associated administrative\nregulations.
