{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-322.047","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 322.047","heading":"Alternate requirements for licensure as a professional land surveyor until","body":"June 30, 2011 -- Education, experience.\n(1) Until June 30, 2011, the following shall apply to licensure as a professional land\nsurveyor:\n(a) In addition to the requirements lis ted in KRS 322.045(1)(c), a person may\nqualify for licensure as a professional land surveyor by meeting one of the\nfollowing alternate requirements:\n1. Graduation from a program of four (4) years or more in an area other\nthan land surveying accredited by o ne of the Commissions of the\nAccreditation Board for Engineering and Technology and not less than\nsix (6) years of progressive experience in land surveying under the direct\nsupervision of a practicing professional land surveyor. The experience\nshall be of a grade and character to indicate to the board that the\napplicant is competent to practice land surveying. Applicants shall be\neligible to take the Fundamentals of Land Surveying Examination upon\ncompletion of two (2) years of progressive experience in land surveying.\nApplicants possessing education credentials of this subparagraph may\npursue licensure under KRS 322.045(1)(c)2., providing the core\ncurriculum in land surveying requirement is satisfied;\n2. Graduation from a two (2) year board -approved program  in land\nsurveying and not less than six (6) years of progressive experience in\nland surveying under the direct supervision of a practicing professional\nland surveyor. The experience shall be of a grade and character to\nindicate to the board that the appli cant is competent to practice land\nsurveying. Applicants shall be eligible to take the Fundamentals of Land\nSurveying Examination upon completion of two (2) years of progressive\nexperience in land surveying; or\n3. Graduation from high school, or the equiva lent, and not less than ten\n(10) years of progressive experience in land surveying under the direct\nsupervision of a practicing professional land surveyor. The experience\nshall be of a grade and character to indicate to the board that the\napplicant is comp etent to practice land surveying. Applicants shall be\neligible to take the Fundamentals of Land Surveying Examination upon\ncompletion of four (4) years of progressive experience in land surveying.\n(b) As it may apply to the experience qualifications for land surveyors:\n1. The satisfactory completion of each year as a full -time student of a\nboard-approved program in civil engineering or land surveying without\ngraduation may be considered as equivalent to one (1) year of experience\nrequired by subsection (1)(a)2. and 3. of this section;\n2. Graduation from a program other than as provided in KRS 322.045(1)(c)\nor subsection (1)(a)1. and 2. of this section from a college or university\nof recognized standing may be considered as equivalent to two (2) years\nof experience required by subsection (1)(a)2. and 3. of this section;\n3. No applicant shall receive credit for more than four (4) years of\nexperience based on undergraduate educational qualifications.\n(2) The board shall promulgate administrative regulations to e stablish requirements for\nconsideration of experience gained prior to graduation from programs as described\nin subsection (1)(a)1. and 2. of this section.\n(3) The board may promulgate administrative regulations to provide an exemption to\nthe licensure requirements contained in subsection (1)(a) of this section based on a\nfinding of hardship or medical necessity.","path":["KRS Chapter 322"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=31423","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:17Z","sha256":"2a601cd9083cded57328cb72ccdb93ce7d588ab1394a15fc23b0bd9ff916dfa5","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-322.045","next":"us-ky/krs-322.050"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
