{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-322a.020","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 322A.020","heading":"Board of Registration for Professional Geologists -- Membership --","body":"Removal and filling of vacancies -- Officers -- Compensation of members.\n(1) There is created and established the Board of Registration for Professional\nGeologists, which shall admi nister the provisions of this chapter. All board\nmembers shall be residents of Kentucky and be appointed by the Governor. The\nboard shall consist of five (5) members, including four (4) registered geologists, one\n(1) of whom shall be the state geologist or  his or her designee, and one (1) member\nrepresenting the public at large. Except for the state geologist or his or her designee,\nthe term of the members of the board shall always be for four (4) years and until\ntheir successors are appointed and qualified.\n(2) Board members may succeed themselves. The Governor may remove any member\nfrom the board for misconduct, incompetence, neglect of duty, or for any good and\nsufficient cause, in the manner prescribed by law. Vacancies in the membership of\nthe board shall be filled for the unexpired term by appointment by the Governor.\n(3) Three (3) members of the board shall constitute a quorum.\n(4) There shall be no liability on the part of and no cause of action of any nature shall\narise against the board, or its agen ts, for any action taken in the performance of the\nboard's powers and duties under this chapter.\n(5) The board shall elect from its members a chair and secretary each year.\n(6) At least thirty (30) days prior to the appointment date each year, the Governor  shall\nreceive a list of not more than three (3) nominations for board members from a joint\ncommittee of the Geological Society of Kentucky and the Kentucky Section of the\nAmerican Institute of Professional Geologists. The appointed members on the board\nshall be selected from the list submitted to the Governor by the joint committee.\n(7) While discharging duties associated with the board, including meetings of the board\nand its committees and necessary travel, each member shall receive compensation\nas established by administrative regulation of the board promulgated in accordance\nwith KRS Chapter 13A. Members of the board shall be reimbursed for costs for\nactual travel and for incidental, clerical, and all other actual and necessary expenses\nincurred in the discharge of official duties associated with the board.","path":["KRS Chapter 322A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=40729","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:18Z","sha256":"84917be1cad371f93c7673e81bbb9176c4070b07a352e7ac6548fc2465d46330","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-322a.010","next":"us-ky/krs-322a.030"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
