{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-323.010","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 323.010","heading":"Definitions.","body":"As used in this chapter, unless the context requires otherwise:\n(1) \"Board\" means the Kentucky Board of Architects;\n(2) An \"architect\" is any person who engages in the practice of architecture as\nhereinafter defined;\n(3) The \"practice of architecture\" is t he rendering or offering to render certain services,\nhereinafter described, in connection with the design and construction of a structure\nor group of structures which have as their principal purpose human habitation or\nuse, and the utilization of space wit hin and surrounding such structures.  The\nservices referred to in the previous sentence include planning, providing preliminary\nstudies, designs, drawings and specifications, and administration of construction\ncontracts;\n(4) A \"building\" is a structure whi ch has as its principal purpose human habitation or\nuse;\n(5) \"Use group\" is the classification of a building or structure based on the purpose for\nwhich it is used, as set forth in the Kentucky Building Code;\n(6) \"Consultant\" is an individual, partnership,  or firm acting subordinately and in a\nposition of service to an architect engaged in the practice of architecture as defined;\nand\n(7) \"Administration of construction contracts\" means:\n(a) Conducting periodic site visits;\n(b) Reviewing shop drawings and re viewing other submittals required of the\ncontractor by the terms of the construction contract documents;\n(c) Reporting to the owner any violations of applicable building codes and any\nsubstantial deviations from the contract documents that the architect ob serves;\nor\n(d) Reporting to the building official any violations of applicable building codes\nthat the architect observes.","path":["KRS Chapter 323"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=31480","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:18Z","sha256":"325be7c20779815f9ace7c060c01771dbe7ce85e689e6dee030c476997a7cd80","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-322a.990","next":"us-ky/krs-323.020"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
