{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-323a.010","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 323A.010","heading":"Definitions for chapter.","body":"As used in this chapter, unless the context requires otherwise:\n(1) \"Board\" means the Kentucky Board of Landscape Architects;\n(2) \"Landscape architect\" means a person who engages in the practice of landscape\narchitecture as defined in subsection (3) of this section;\n(3) The \"practice of landscape architecture\" means to render or offer to render any\nprofessional service in connection with the planning of outdoor space involving the\nrelationships of people, flora and fauna, and facilities, with emphasis on th e\nfunction, preservation, conservation, restoration, and enhancement of the physical\nenvironment, by arranging land and water and the elements thereon, including the\nalignment of roadways and the location of buildings, service areas, parking areas,\nwalkways, steps, ramps, pools, and other structures, and the grading of the land,\nsurface and sub -soil drainage, erosion control, planting, reforestation, and the\npreservation of the natural landscape ecology and environment, in accordance with\nthe accepted professional standard of public health, welfare, and safety. The practice\nof landscape architecture shall include the location and arrangement of such\ntangible objects and features as are incidental and necessary to the purposes outlined\nin this subsection. The  practice of landscape architecture shall not include the\ndesign of structures of facilities with separate and self -contained purposes for\nhabitation or industry, public streets or streets intended for public dedication,\nhighways, utilities, storm and sani tary sewers, or sewage treatment facilities, if\nordinarily included in the practice of engineering or architecture. Nothing contained\nin this subsection shall preclude a duly licensed landscape architect from\nperforming any of the services described in the  first sentence of this subsection in\nconnection with the setting, approaches, or environment for buildings, structures, or\nfacilities; and\n(4) \"Professional services\" means the providing of professional landscape architectural\nservices for compensation. \" Professional services\" may include consultation,\ninvestigation, reconnaissance, research, planning, design, or responsible\nsupervision.","path":["KRS Chapter 323A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=43354","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:18Z","sha256":"573641b5bf19bfd9beb896ce875e4c0f951e60d6e301faeb624d45180ddb4502","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-323.992","next":"us-ky/krs-323a.020"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
