{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-324.085","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 324.085","heading":"Continuing education requirements -- Post-licensure education","body":"requirements -- Qualifications of instructors -- Administrative regulations.\n(1) (a) All actively licensed agents, except those licensees exempt under KRS\n324.046(5) and thos e licensees satisfying the educational requirement in\nsubsection (2) of this section, shall successfully complete twelve (12)\nclassroom or online hours of continuing education for the biennial license\nperiod. Six (6) of the twelve (12) hours shall be compl eted in the first year of\nthe biennial license period or the license shall be automatically cancelled.\n(b) Six (6) of the twelve (12) hours of continuing education shall be in real estate\nlaw.\n(c) A licensee may accumulate additional continuing education h ours for the\nbiennial period in the first year of the biennial term.\n(d) Six (6) of the twelve (12) hours of continuing education may be in real estate -\nrelated courses approved by the commission and other boards pursuant to\nKRS Chapters 324A and 330 and KRS 198B.700 to 198B.738.\n(2) A licensee who is issued an initial sales associate license after January 1, 2016,\nshall complete forty -eight (48) classroom or online hours of commission -approved\npost-license education:\n(a) Provided by one (1) or a combination of the following:\n1. An accredited institution; or\n2. A commission-approved:\na. Real estate school; or\nb. Broker-affiliated training program; and\n(b) Within two (2) years of receiving or activating his or her license unless\nextended by the commission for good cause shown.\n(3) The license held by any licensee failing to complete his or her sales associate post -\nlicense education requirements in accordance  with subsection (2) of this section\nshall be automatically canceled, in accordance with administrative regulations\nestablishing compliance and delinquency procedures.\n(4) The commission shall promulgate administrative regulations to establish procedures\nfor implementing the requirements in this section.\n(5) In order to qualify to teach continuing education or post -license courses, all\ncontinuing education and post -license instructors shall maintain a minimum rating\nas prescribed by the commission by the promulgation of administrative regulations.\n(6) (a) A licensee who has initiated continuing education courses prior to the date\nestablished through an administrative regulation promulgated by the\ncommission in accordance with KRS Chapter 13A shall have five (5) days\nafter the established date to complete them.\n(b) The commission may not cancel a license for failure to complete continuing\neducation courses until ten (10) days after the date established by the\ncommission.","path":["KRS Chapter 324"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=58038","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:19Z","sha256":"e281b92e8fce259bb5682ea0b4b9f5d5642e9f2d1e8db1412f9c65d9854a3a90","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-324.080","next":"us-ky/krs-324.090"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
