{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-326.010","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 326.010","heading":"Definitions for chapter -- When prescriptions required.","body":"As used in this chapter:\n(1) \"Board\" means the \"Kentucky Board of Ophthalmic Dispensers\";\n(2) \"Ophthalmic dispensing\" means that a person prepares and dispenses lenses,\nspectacles, eyeglasses, or appurtenances thereto to the intended wearers on written\nprescriptions from licensed physicians, osteopaths, or optometrists, and in\naccordance with these prescriptions, interprets, measures, adapts, fits, and adjusts\nthe lenses, spectacles, eyeglasses, or appurtenances thereto to the human face for the\naid or correction of visual or ocular anomalies of the human eyes. The services and\nappliances relating to ophthalmic dispensing shall be dispensed, furnished, or\nsupplied to the intended wearer or user only upon a written prescription issued by a\nphysician, osteopath, or optometrist. Duplications, replacements, reproductions, or\nrepetitions may be provided without prescriptions, but shall be construed to be\nophthalmic dispensing the same as if performed on the basis of an original written\nprescription; and\n(3) \"Optical establishment\" means any establishment where ophthalmic dispensing\nservices for the general public are offered, advertised, or performed. \"Optical\nestablishment\" shall not include any establishment that comes under the practice of\nmedicine by a duly licensed physician, the practice of osteopathy by a duly licensed\nosteopath, or the practice of optometry by a duly licensed optometrist.","path":["KRS Chapter 326"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=31697","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:21Z","sha256":"e20af5783f4157105cf38ac76f893b227c0e1f67ed99067afbd6e6fd8cfd7fbe","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-325.990","next":"us-ky/krs-326.020"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
