{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-327.050","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 327.050","heading":"Licensing provisions.","body":"(1) Before the board may issue a license to a physical therapist applicant or a physical\ntherapist assistant applicant, the applicant shall have successfully completed an\naccredited program in physical therapy approved by the board. No school shall be\napproved by the board unless it has been approved for the educational preparation\nof physical therapists or physical therapist assistants by the recognized national\naccrediting agency for physical therapy educational programs.\n(2) Any person who possesses the qual ifications required by this chapter and who\ndesires to apply for licensure as a physical therapist or physical therapist assistant in\nKentucky shall make written application to the board, on forms to be provided by\nthe board. The application shall be accompanied by a nonrefundable application fee\nin an amount to be determined by the board.\n(3) If it appears from the application that the applicant possesses the qualifications\nrequired by this chapter and has not yet successfully completed the board -approved\nexamination, the applicant shall be allowed to sit for the examination and tested in\nthe subjects the board may determine to be necessary.\n(4) Examinations shall be held within the state at least once a year at the time and place\nas the board shall determine.\n(5) An applicant who is admitted to the examination or an applicant who has submitted\nsatisfactory evidence that the applicant has been accepted as a candidate for\nlicensure by examination in a state which offers an examination approved by the\nboard may be granted a provisional license which shall be valid until the applicant's\nexamination is graded and the applicant is notified by the board of the applicant's\nscore. The board may summarily withdraw a provisional license upon\ndetermination that the pers on has made any false statement to the board on the\napplication, or the person fails to pass an examination approved by the board.\n(6) An applicant who receives a passing score as determined by the board and who\nmeets the other qualifications required by t his chapter shall be licensed as a\nphysical therapist or physical therapist assistant.\n(7) An applicant who fails to receive a passing score on the examination shall not be\nlicensed, but the board may, by administrative regulation, permit applicants to tak e\nthe examination more than once.\n(8) All licenses shall be renewed biennially upon payment on or before March 31 of\neach odd-numbered year of a renewal fee in an amount to be promulgated by the\nboard by administrative regulations.\n(9) Licenses which are n ot renewed by March 31 of each odd -numbered year shall\nlapse.","path":["KRS Chapter 327"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=57292","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:21Z","sha256":"333d97e165fd72d99fbea0bc7fda512d0c2e42641d9bc1292e1275f3a8f48abb","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-327.045","next":"us-ky/krs-327.060"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
