{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-327.060","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 327.060","heading":"Licensing requirements for persons holding a license in another state and","body":"persons trained in a foreign country.\n(1) The board shall issue a license to:\n(a) An individual who holds a valid license from another state, who meets\nrequirements specified in KRS 327.050 and who has no imposed or pending\ndisciplinary actions.\n(b) An individual who has been educated as a physical therapist or physical\ntherapist assistant outside the United States and who has:\n1. Completed the application process;\n2. Provided satisfactory evidence to the board that his or her education is\nsubstantially equivalent to the requirements for physical therapists or\nphysical therapist assistants educated in United States accredited\neducational programs;\n3. Provided written pr oof that the school of physical therapy education\noutside the United States is recognized by its own ministry of education;\n4. Successfully completed the examinations provided for in KRS 327.050;\n5. Passed the board -approved English language proficiency ex aminations\nif English is not the applicant's native language;\n6. Successfully completed, prior to licensure, a board-approved, supervised\npractice period of not less than three (3) months nor more than six (6)\nmonths, under the direct supervision of a physical therapist who holds\nan unrestricted license. This requirement may be satisf ied by at least\nthree (3) months of supervised practice as a physical therapist in a state\nwith license requirements comparable to or more stringent than those of\nKentucky;\n7. Provided proof of legal authorization to reside and seek employment in\nthe United States or its territories;\n8. Provided proof of authorization to practice as a physical therapist or\nphysical therapist assistant without limitations in the country where the\nprofessional education occurred;\n9. Submitted to a prescreening process by an a gency approved by the\nboard; and\n10. Submitted educational credentials to the board for evaluation by an\nagency approved by the board.\n(2) The board may approve an agency to prescreen applicants for initial licensure under\nthis section.\n(3) The board may a pprove one (1) or more services to provide an evaluation of the\napplicant's educational credentials for board approval for licensing under this\nsection.\n(4) The board may waive the requirements of subsection (1)(b) 3., 9., and 10. of this\nsection if the ap plicant is a graduate of a professional physical therapy education\nprogram preapproved by the board.\n(5) The board may waive the requirements of subsection (1)(b)6. of this section for an\napplicant for credentialing by endorsement pursuant to administrative regulations of\nthe board.","path":["KRS Chapter 327"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=57293","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:21Z","sha256":"610661a8731a07889ec830705e415877e891312e399cb17c2effff5fbdac59fe","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-327.050","next":"us-ky/krs-327.065"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
