{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-329a.045","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 329A.045","heading":"Renewal -- Fee -- Grace period -- Termination and reinstatement --","body":"Revocation -- Evidence of continuing education -- Inactive status.\n(1) A license or renewal issued under KRS 329A.010 to 329A.090 shall be valid for\ntwo (2) years from the date of iss uance. No later than May 1 in the license renewal\nyear, the board shall send a renewal application form to the address on file for each\nlicensee. The renewal application shall indicate if the licensee is required to submit\npassport-sized photographs for a new identification card.\n(2) All renewal applications shall be received by the board on or before June 30 in the\nyear of renewal.\n(3) Each company license renewal shall include a notarized statement sworn to by the\nrepresentative prescribed in KRS 329A.035 (2)(c) stating the identity and license\nnumber of each private investigator employed by or affiliated with the company.\n(4) The fee for the timely renewal of a license shall be not less than fifty dollars ($50)\nand not more than two hundred fifty dollars ( $250), as established by the board by\npromulgation of administrative regulations.\n(5) For individual licensees, the board shall, at its discretion, issue either a new\nidentification card or a renewal stamp or sticker to be affixed to the existing card.\n(6) A grace period shall be allowed until September 1 of the license renewal year,\nduring which time licensees may continue to practice and may renew their licenses\nupon payment of the renewal fee plus a late fee as promulgated by administrative\nregulation of the board.\n(7) All licenses not renewed by September 1 of the renewal year shall terminate based\non the failure to renew in a timely manner. Upon termination, the licensee is no\nlonger eligible to practice in this state.\n(8) After September 1 of the renew al year, former licensees with a terminated license\nmay have their licenses reinstated upon payment of the renewal fee plus a\nreinstatement fee as promulgated by administrative regulation of the board. If the\nreinstatement application is made within five (5) years from the date of termination,\napplicants shall not be required to submit to any examination as a condition for\nreinstatement.\n(9) A revoked license may not be renewed. If it is reinstated, the licensee shall pay the\nreinstatement fee as set forth in subsection (8) of this section and the renewal fee as\nset forth in subsection (4) of this section.\n(10) A former licensee who fails to reinstate a license within five (5) years after\ntermination may not have it renewed, restored, or reinstated. A person  may apply\nfor and obtain a new license by meeting the current requirements for licensure.\n(11) The board may require that a person applying for a renewal or reinstatement of\nlicensure show evidence of completion of continuing professional education as\nprescribed by the board in administrative regulations.\n(12) A valid license may be put on inactive status by the licensee at the time of renewal,\nat a cost to be determined by the board.","path":["KRS Chapter 329A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=31765","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:22Z","sha256":"e8033abbee8b72dc42daa1545df319f08e241a3a4374eb596cda7135e9f900b7","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-329a.040","next":"us-ky/krs-329a.050"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
