{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-334.040","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 334.040","heading":"Exemptions from application of chapter.","body":"(1) This chapter shall not apply to a person while he or she is engaged in the practice of\nfitting hearing instruments and assistive listening devices if his or her practice is\npart of the academic curriculum of an accredited institution of higher education or\npart of a program conducted by a public, charitable institution or nonprofit\norganization, which is primarily supported by voluntary contributions.\n(2) This chapter shall not be construed to prevent any person who is:\n(a) A medical or osteopathic physician licensed to practice in the Commonwealth\nof Kentucky from treating or fitting hearing instruments to the human ear,\nwhich includes the making of ear molds; or\n(b) An audiologist holding a certificate of clinical competence in audiology from\nthe American Speech-Language-Hearing Association so long as they do not\nengage in the sale of hearing instruments.","path":["KRS Chapter 334"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=53764","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:23Z","sha256":"eec25861ac9ed61e6d4b116cfc996b69d83c44cf0e94c9cbffa7747985f6df2e","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-334.030","next":"us-ky/krs-334.050"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
