{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-334.150","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 334.150","heading":"Powers and duties of the board.","body":"The powers and duties of the board shall be as follows:\n(1) To authorize all disbursements necessary to carry out provisions of this chapter.\n(2) To prepare and administer qualifying examinations to test the knowledge and\nproficiency of applicants for licensing.\n(3) To license persons who apply to the board and who are qualified to practice the\nfitting of hearing instruments.\n(4) To purchase and maintain or rent audiometric equipment and facilities necessary to\ncarry out the examination of applicants for licensing.\n(5) To issue and renew licenses.\n(6) To suspend, revoke, refuse to issue, or renew licenses, impose probationary or\nsupervisory conditions, issue letters of reprimand, or levy fines against a licensee, or\nany combination thereof.\n(7) To appoint representatives to conduct or supervise the examination of applicants for\nlicensing.\n(8) To designate the time and place for examining applicants.\n(9) To promulgate administrative regulations consistent with the laws of this\nCommonwealth which are necessary to carry out the provisions of this chapter.\n(10) To require the periodic inspection of audiometric testing equipment and to carry out\nthe periodic inspection of facilities of persons who practice the fitting of hearing\ninstruments.\n(11) To employ secretaries, attorneys, inspectors, clerks, or any other employees that the\nboard may deem necessary to carry out the provisions of this chapter. The board\nmay employ or discharge at its discretion.\n(12) To initiate a formal educational program consistent with the  intent of this chapter in\nthat the consumer public shall be served by the specialist in hearing instruments\ntrained in the latest technology in fitting hearing instruments.\n(13) To promulgate administrative regulations establishing requirements and standa rds\nfor continuing education.\n(14) To administer oaths and to require the attendance of witnesses, the production of\nbooks, records and papers pertinent to any matters coming before the board by the\nissuance of process wh ich shall be served and returned in the same manner as in\ncivil actions and for the disobedience of which the board shall have by resort to a\ncourt of competent jurisdiction the power to invoke the same rights as are provided\nin the event of disobedience o f a subpoena or subpoena duces tecum in a civil\naction.","path":["KRS Chapter 334"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=31882","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:23Z","sha256":"0f506140f98d2d4f525a2b217306a3502d1cf85d02be49ca224de95d60e70080","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-334.140","next":"us-ky/krs-334.160"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
