{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-334a.033","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 334A.033","heading":"License for speech -language pathology assistant -- Requirements for","body":"licensure -- Supervision requirements.\n(1) The board may issue a license to practice as a speech -language pathology assistant\nunder the following conditions:\n(a) The practice shall b e limited to the public schools and shall be under the\nsupervision of an appropriately qualified supervisor;\n(b) The requirements for supervision shall be set forth in administrative\nregulations promulgated by the board and shall include requirements that:\n1. A person holding an interim license as a speech -language pathology\nassistant shall receive no less than three (3) hours per week of\ndocumented direct supervision and three (3) hours per week of indirect\nsupervision from an appropriate supervisor as determined by the board;\n2. A person holding a license as a speech-language pathology assistant with\nless than three (3) years of full-time experience shall receive no less than\ntwo (2) hours per week of documented direct supervision and two (2)\nhours per week of indirect supervision from an appropriate supervisor as\ndetermined by the board;\n3. A person holding a license as a speech-language pathology assistant with\nthree (3) or more years of full -time experience shall receive no less than\none (1) hour per wee k of documented direct supervision and one (1)\nhour per week of indirect supervision, unless, in the professional\njudgment of the supervisor, the ability of the speech -language pathology\nassistant requires a higher level of supervision in order to avoid\ncompromising the quality of services provided to students; and\n4. Supervision shall be adjusted proportionally for less than full -time\nemployment;\n(c) An individual shall not supervise or be listed as the supervisor for more than\ntwo (2) speech-language pathology assistants; and\n(d) The supervisor shall delegate to the assistant the appropriate tasks pursuant to\nKRS 334A.020 and the supervisor and assistant shall work together to provide\nthe appropriate services to all assigned pupils taking into account the severity\nand complexity of the needs of individual students and the respective\nworkloads of the supervisor and assistant. The maximum number of pupils\nserved by each speech-language pathology assistant shall not exceed the direct\nservice caseload of the sp eech-language pathologist as established in KRS\n334A.190.\n(2) To be eligible for licensure by the board as a speech -language pathology assistant,\nthe applicant shall meet the following requirements:\n(a) A baccalaureate degree in the area of speech-language pathology as defined by\nadministrative regulation;\n(b) Completion of postgraduate professional experience deemed appropriate by\nthe board by administrative regulation; and\n(c) List on the application the name of the appropriately qualified supervisor who\nhas agreed to provide supervision as set forth by the board by administrative\nregulation.","path":["KRS Chapter 334A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=31893","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:23Z","sha256":"27392b3ea49a3931942ce11035a02f04f502ea8fa6a90dc63b5ec75a916bcfbc","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-334a.030","next":"us-ky/krs-334a.034"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
