{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-335.340","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 335.340","heading":"Renewal of licensure -- Suspended or revoked license -- Continuing","body":"education.\n(1) Licensure issued under KRS 335.330 shall be renewed annually upon payment of a\nfee to be established by administrative regulation promulgated by the board not to\nexceed one hundred fifty dollars ($150).\n(2) On January 1, 1999, all persons authorized to use the title \"certified marriage and\nfamily therapist\" shall be deemed \"licensed marriage and family therapists\" until the\ndate of their second annual license renewal. As of that date, each formerly certified\nlicensee seeking license renewal shall provide the board with verification of\neducation or experience relating to psychopathology, as determined by\nadministrative regulations promulgated by the board, to include:\n(a) Coursework in psychopathology;\n(b) Supervised experience with a focus on diagnosis; or\n(c) Completion of equivalent continuing education units relating to\npsychopathology.\nThis subsection shall not apply to license renewals for those persons also licensed\nor certified by another mental health profession which authorizes diagnosis within\nits scope of practice.\n(3) A ninety (90) day grace period shall be granted during which time licensees may\ncontinue to practice and may renew their licenses upon payment of the renewal fee\nplus a late renewal fee as promulgated by administrative regulation of the board.\nAny license not renewed during this period shall expire. The board may reinstate an\nexpired license within three (3) years of its expiration date upon payment  of the\nrenewal fee and satisfaction of other requirements.\n(4) A suspended license is subject to expiration and termination and shall be renewed\nas provided in this chapter. Renewal shall not entitle the licensee to engage in the\npractice of marriage and family therapy until the suspension has ended, or is\notherwise removed by the board and the right to practice is restored by the board.\n(5) A revoked license is subject to expiration or termination but may not be renewed. If\nit is reinstated, the licensee shall pay the renewal fee as set forth in subsection (1) of\nthis section.\n(6) A person who fails to reinstate his or her license within three (3) years of its\ntermination may not have it renewed, restored, reissued, or reinstated. A person may\napply for an d obtain a new license by meeting the current requirements of this\nchapter.\n(7) The board shall require that a person applying for renewal or reinstatement of\nlicensure show evidence of completion of continuing education as prescribed by the\nboard by admin istrative regulations, not to exceed twenty (20) clock hours per\nrenewal period.","path":["KRS Chapter 335"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=31948","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:24Z","sha256":"dd0a39f3f2aaedc189868c83aa8f54317025067e9902f048e95533ce0fd7c9e6","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-335.337","next":"us-ky/krs-335.342"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
