{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-335.527","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 335.527","heading":"Licensing reciprocity requirements -- Exemptions.","body":"(1) The board shall grant the appropriate credential under KRS 335.525 to an applicant\nfor endorsement who:\n(a) Has received a master's, specialist, or doctoral degree in counseling or a\nrelated field from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum of sixty\n(60) hours of graduate coursework to include the following:\n1. The helping relationship, including counseling theory and practice;\n2. Human growth and development;\n3. Lifestyle and career development;\n4. Group dynamics, process, counseling, and consulting;\n5. Assessment, appraisal, and testing of individuals;\n6. Social and cultural foundations, including multicultural issues;\n7. Principles of etiology, diagnosis, treatment planning, and prevention of\nmental and emotional disorders and dysfunctional behavior;\n8. Research and evaluation; and\n9. Professional orientation and ethics;\n(b) Holds an active valid license or certificate from another state to practice as a\nprofessional counselor;\n(c) Is in good standing with the certifying or licensing board of that state;\n(d) Is of good moral character;\n(e) Has paid the application fee to the board; and\n(f) Has provided the board with evidence of a minimum of five (5) years'\nexperience as a certified or licensed professional counselor.\n(2) The applicant shall be exempt from:\n(a) The required hours of supervised experience in the practice of counseling set\nout in KRS 335.525(1)(e); and\n(b) The examination requirement set out in KRS 335.525(1)(f).","path":["KRS Chapter 335"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=31962","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:24Z","sha256":"ca108b19bddf56734a89c06f6e72feb737c2478e07755fe583a96caa7bf81d67","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-335.525","next":"us-ky/krs-335.530"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
