{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-337.420","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 337.420","heading":"Definitions.","body":"(1) \"Employee\" means any individual employed by any employer, including but not\nlimited to individuals employed by the state or any of its political subdivisions,\ninstrumentalities, or instrumentalities of political subdivisions.\n(2) \"Employer\" means  a person who has two (2) or more employees within the\nstate in each of twenty (20) or more calendar weeks in the current or preceding\ncalendar year and an agent of such a person.\n(3) \"Wage  rate\" means  all compensation for employment, including payment in\nkind and amounts paid by employers for employee benefits, as defined by the\ncommissioner  in regulations issued under KRS  337.420 to 337.433 and\n337.990(11).\n(4) \"Employ\" includes to suffer or permit to work.\n(5) \"Occupation\" includes any industry, trade, business, or branch thereof, or any\nemployment or class of employment.\n(6) \"Commissioner\" means  the commissioner of the Department of Workplace\nStandards under the direction and supervision of the secretary of the Education\nand Labor Cabinet.\n(7) \"Person\" includes one (1) or more individuals, partnerships, corporations, legal\nrepresentatives, trustees, trustees in bankruptcy, or voluntary associations.","path":["KRS Chapter 337"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=52427","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:26Z","sha256":"aea04d19b35302b64cd1c62a68809ac63d46c008d6cb87b5145b7e8d862cd34a","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-337.415","next":"us-ky/krs-337.423"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
